Chicago dell’Arte presents
Our 2013 Season!
Chicago dell’Arte is proud to announce our 2013 season! After much deliberation, consternation, and
imagination, we have chosen two shows that will further our commedia ideals while also putting our
name on the tongues of Chicago theater’s participants across our great city.
The newest entry in our Classics: Re-Imagined series will be our spring show: Yikes! There’s a
Phantom in the Opera!, our take on the classic novel, Phantom of the Opera. Follow our crack team
of paranormal investigators as they are invited by the manager of the Paris Opera House to solve their
little “phantom problem.” Borrowing from madcap cartoons such as Scooby Doo, Chicago dell’Arte
will tell the story of Phantom with our cast of commedia characters and plenty of professional ghost
investigation techniques and chases!
The second show of our season is going to be our way of following our motto of Ars Gratia Omnis, “Art
for the sake of everyone,” to its fullest extent by…leveling the playing field of sorts. The show is called
How to Succeed in Chicago by Trying REALLY Hard, and it will be a lampooning of all our beloved
brethren in the Chicago theater scene. Pulling from theater companies and personalities big and small
across the city, we will present a hilarious commedia show while also roasting anyone and everyone
in our path. See our characters try to put on the best show Chicago has ever seen, while battling each
other’s differing opinions on what makes a show in Chicago “great.” The crosshairs have been set, and
no one is safe. We hope to create an environment of laughter, winks, and nudges to let everyone relax in
this business where we are simply playing pretend.
